I’m embarrassed to admit it but I love computer games. I can remember before I had a kid spending all day Saturday and Sunday glued to the computer screen devoted to killing monsters in Quake 1 and 2. I had mastered all levels and would move from one game to the next. Quake, Thief, Worms 2, Diablo 2 and Unreal were all my victims on the weekend. However, as I aged and progressed from 1st person shooter to actually growing up I came to understand not much came from gaming but pure bliss. Now as my son starts playing games I see his bliss with each game he masters. How much do I expose him to the world of gaming? Do I have him avoid violent games until he understands reality from fantasy? This is a more of a random thought and any comments are appreciated. Thank you.
Computer Gaming – Good or Bad?

Anything can be good or bad, but I personally believe it’s a little unbelievable that people think violence in video games will carry over into life. Sure, it happens in some cases but not in the majority of them and so it isn’t fair to not allow it. You obviously point out that it isn’t real but censorship shouldn’t be the answer, just my opinion.
I agree about censorship. My experience with what I have gone through so far is my son mimics Homer Simpson behavior after watching The Simpson’s. Mind you, not the beer drinking or food habits. So, based on that observation am I to assume he will be more aggressive after playing world of goo or a similar game? And if he will be more aggressive should I take it away?
Thanks for responding, JokiLoki22.
I have no idea, I guess it’d be left up to your call. You know him better than about anyone.
